This is a poem I wrote last year, and as I was reading Isaiah 46, I remembered it. But first, here are the scriptures that set the theme of the poem:
Isaiah 40:18-31 KJV
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? [19] The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains. [20] He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved. [21] Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? [22] It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: [23] That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. [24] Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble. [25] To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. [26] Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things , that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. [27] Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord , and my judgment is passed over from my God? [28] Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord , the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. [29] He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. [30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: [31] But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 46:6-7 KJV
They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship. [7] They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
↪warning: this will offend many, but only because the don't serve the one true God.
You Do Not Know
Lord of lords, King of kings,
None can fathom our indescribable God,
The nations have made idols,
and compare them to the one true God.
Who dares compare the only Living, Holy God?
Who bears the confidence to suggest that Jehovah God is not Lord?
He who sits on the throne,
Whose footstool is the Earth,
He who knows all.
Peoples of The Earth,
Do you not know who created you?
Do you not know who brought forth the same gold you clothe your idols in?
Who brought forth trees whose bark is stripped for alters?
The gods of the world are meaningless.
Have the saved you from death, Starvation, or nourished your daily thirst?
Have you not reduced yourselves to nothing by giving all you have
To one who can not see,
One that cannot hear?
You pray to one who is deaf and yet you are blind.
Do you not realize that your prayers go unanswered,
That you put your faith in stone?
The same meat you sacrifice starves your family!
The water you once drank is dust!
Turn from your wicked ways all ye nations!
Repent and live for the God who provides: Jehovah Jireh,
Love the Lord who sanctifies: Jehovah Mekaddesh,
Be healed by Jehovah Rophe,
One God is all you need,
He loves,
He listens,
He sees,
He speaks,
He's there,
He's Jehovah.
